In November 2025, new car sales in Indonesia experienced a slight decline of 0.8% compared to the same month in the previous year, totaling 74,252 units. This represents a decrease from a 4.4% drop seen in October, marking the sixth consecutive month of declining sales, albeit at the slowest rate in this timeframe. On a month-to-month comparison, November sales edged up by 0.3%, a significant slowdown from the 19.2% increase reported in October. From January to November, the cumulative car sales amounted to 710,084 units, reflecting a 10% decrease compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. This downturn was largely attributed to diminished sales of light passenger vehicles by 11%, commercial vehicles by 3%, and small internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger cars by 31%. Despite these trends, the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) anticipates that car sales for 2025 will range between 750,000 and 900,000 units, exceeding their 2024 projection of 850,000 units. Nonetheless, the association has advised that this forecast might need to be adjusted downward, considering the ongoing decline in sales observed during the first half of the year.
