Colombia's trade deficit expanded to $1.673 billion in April 2025, increasing from $1.431 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. This represents the most significant negative balance since November 2024. Exports experienced a 6.5% decline compared to the prior year, reaching $4.121 billion, primarily due to a substantial 33.0% decrease in the overseas sales of fuels and extractive industry products. Conversely, imports fell by a more modest 0.8% year-on-year to $5.794 billion, with a notable 1.7% reduction in the industrial sector being the main contributor to this decrease. The reconfiguration of international trade flows has been influenced by increased uncertainty stemming from the US tariff conflict, global tensions, and evolving dynamics related to OPEC.
